HP 9200c Digital Sender Support Guide

HP 9200c Digital Sender Support Guide

The HP 9200C Digital Sender connects directly to your network and uses the included HP Digital Sending Software (HP DSS) program to convert black-and-white and color documents, drawings, and photographs into an electronic form and then distribute them directly to several kinds of destinations.

● E-mail—Scan a document and send it to one or more e-mail recipients in the form of a .PDF, .JPEG, .TIFF, or .MTIFF file.
● Secondary (secure) E-mail—Send a document by using a secure third-party e-mail solution.
● Fax—Scan a document and send it to a local area network (LAN) fax, Internet fax, or Windows® 2000 fax destination. (The device does not have analog fax capability.)
● Workflow—Scan a document and save it to a network folder or file transfer protocol (FTP) site along with additional information about the document. A third-party software program can then retrieve and decipher the information, and perform the appropriate operation on the scanned image. A printer can also be set up as a workflow destination, allowing scanned documents to be printed.
● Network Folder—Scan a document and send it to a folder on the network. The digital sender includes a flatbed scanner as well as an automatic document feeder (ADF) that can accept up to 50 pages.

The digital sender supports network authentication, allowing you to require users to log in before they can use the digital-sending options. It can also make use of Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to find and use e-mail addresses on directory servers that are located elsewhere on a network.

HP Imaging and Printing IPv6 FAQs

HP Imaging and Printing IPv6 FAQs

The IPv6 family supports a range of new functionally. IPv6 tackles critical areas of IP standards, such as address depletion, end-to-end authentication and security, packet handling efficiency, and improved scalability. All designs were optimized for use with 64-bit hardware and software. IPv6 provides true IP mobility by enabling secure access from any place, at any time, all the time. It is simpler and easier to configure and offers better network management than IPv4. IPv6 is the standard for global information technology for decades to come.

• Addressing: IP address size increases from 32 bits with IPv4 to 128 bits with IPv6, which provides enough IP addresses so that for the foreseeable future, all nodes can have a globally unique address for true peer-to-peer communication. The IPv6 addressing scheme uses hierarchically assigned addresses with a logical separation of “who you are” (interface ID) from “where you are connected” (prefix) to allow more efficient routing.
• Support for renumbering: IPv6 brings link level support for renumbering (changing IP addresses across a network). IPv6 addresses have associated lifetimes: as the lifetime of the old address expires, a new address can be automatically configured. You can easily renumber IPv6 hosts by adding a new prefix to the router, which reduces the lifetime of the old prefix. As nodes depreciate the old prefix, the new prefix is used for new connections. Renumbering happens automatically! This may provide many benefits, including the end of ISP “lock in,” improved competition, and reduced costs when renumbering due to the joining of two networks, as in the case of corporate mergers or acquisitions.
• Management: IPv6 makes getting on the network as simple as plugging a cable into your computer. IPv6 nodes automatically configure themselves using IPv6 stateless auto-configuration or a version of the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCPv6)—all without human intervention. These features deliver true plug-and-play network access, placing the IT director in control and allowing network operation staff to focus on running the network, rather than manually configuring new users.
• Efficient mobility support: With built-in mobility support, every network is mobile-ready, requiring little pre-existing infrastructure. Each IPv6 node can act as a correspondent and redirect packets to the new mobile node’s care-of-address.
• IPv6/IPv4 interoperability: Given the millions of existing systems currently running IPv4, it is clear that successful adoption of the IPv6 technology suite will be largely based on its ability to integrate with the existing IPv4 infrastructure. To address this requirement, IPv6 is carefully designed to ensure that hosts or routers can be upgraded in an incremental manner and that IPv6 and IPv4 hosts and routers can interoperate in a variety of configurations

HP Print Server Appliance 4250

HP Print Server Appliance 4250

Imagine the immediate efficiencies of transferring network printing from a general-purpose server to a localized, dedicated print appliance. The result—printing is faster and more reliable. Print spooling is easier to manage from anywhere on the Ethernet network, either locally or remotely. Workload on the file server is greatly reduced freeing the server to focus on other mission- critical tasks such as file, web or application serving.

The HP Print Server Appliance 4250 is simple to use. A network administrator uses a common web browser to manage the HP Print Server Appliance from the desktop to:
• Simplify printing management. The PSA 4250 is preloaded with HP printer drivers and installs using a web browser. Users can manage multiple PSAs with the new HP Web Jetadmin plug-in or individual PSAs by using the embedded web server.
• Easily access printers from PCs on the network via an administrative password
• Remotely manage and monitor print jobs, troubleshoot problems, reboot the system and install firmware upgrades
In addition, a client can always print even when the WAN link or file server is down, providing faster, more reliable printing and increased printer uptime.

How the HP Print Server Appliance 4250 works
Though the HP Print Server Appliance 4250 print solution will replace the function of your general print server(s), it is deployed under a localized print model rather than the centralized print model commonly used by general purpose servers.

Under a centralized print model all print traffic must travel to a central server and then to a given printer. Thus every print job is competing with all other network activities for bandwidth and processing time. Under a centralized print model the printing functionality of your network is also more vulnerable to single point failures. In a localized HP Print Server Appliance 4250 printer model, print traffic is contained within a segment of the network. Through this localized print model the HP Print Server Appliance 4250 offloads general-purpose servers and optimizes the business network by eliminating print traffic from the WAN and/or backbone. This localized print model eliminates the single point of failure that exists within the centralized print model and provides a natural mechanism to optimize individual network segments for better performance and/or redundancy.

Hp LaserJet Printer Family Print Media Guide

Hp LaserJet Printer Family Print Media Guide

HP LaserJet printers quickly and quietly produce documents of excellent print quality. A variety of print media, including paper, envelopes, labels, and overhead transparencies, can be used in your HP LaserJet printer. However, to ensure consistent performance and long-term reliability, the print media must be designed for use with laser printers. Many choices of high-quality print media are available to laser printer users.

This manual provides guidelines for selecting and using print media to help you get the best performance from your HP LaserJet printer. It also contains information to help troubleshoot HP LaserJet printer problems that might be caused by poor-quality print media.

You might encounter some terms that are unfamiliar to you. For more information about these terms, see the glossary in Appendix C on page 39. The standards discussed in this manual do not apply to paper that is being scanned, copied, or faxed through the scan path on an HP LaserJet MFP (multifunction peripheral). Check the individual product manuals for that information.

Note
This document does not support HP LaserJet 2686A, HP LaserJet Plus, HP LaserJet 500, or HP LaserJet 2000 printers. See the user guide for each printer for information about print-media specifications.

Note
When HP LaserJet printers are discussed in this guide, the information pertains to HP Monochrome LaserJet printers, HP color LaserJet printers, and HP LaserJet MFPs unless otherwise noted. For specific information about what media your printer or MFP supports, see the documentation that came with your product.
