D-Opto Dissolved Oxygen Sensor Operation Manual

D-Opto Dissolved Oxygen Sensor Operation Manual

The D-Opto is designed to measure dissolved oxygen concentrations in liquids; it uses field-proven solid-state optical sensing technology that is highly stable over long periods of time, even in harsh conditions. The D-Opto has extremely low power requirements, and outputs the data in SDI-12 format making it ideal for incorporation into remote environmental monitoring installations.

Optical Sensor Technology
Unlike conventional dissolved oxygen sensors, the D-Opto sensing element utilises fluorescence to measure dissolved oxygen. The basic principle involves subjecting a fluorescing compound (ruthenium) to a fixed wavelength of light. When the light source is removed, the compound emits a fluorescence, the intensity of which is dependent on the oxygen levels present in the surrounding water. An extremely stable electronic circuit has been designed to firstly excite the ruthenium, and then measure the intensity of the resulting fluorescence. Therefore using this circuitry, the D-Opto should provide accurate dissolved oxygen measurements over long periods of time (many months) without recalibration.

Unlike conventional polarographic dissolved oxygen sensors, the optical method does not consume oxygen. Consequently the measurement of dissolved oxygen by the D-Opto is unaffected by water movement. Similarly the D-Opto does not utilise a membrane or any other consumables, thus minimising the servicing requirements.

Recovery Card User’s and Reference Manual

Recovery Card User’s and Reference Manual

Computer room managers will be familiar with problems like mis-operation or incorrect shutdown by users, illegal operations from Windows itself, viruses, and sometimes loss of data or files as a result of curiosity or even willingly damaging the software by the users. The Recovery Fast Recovery card can repair the computer system by simply rebooting the computer. The Recovery card can be instructed to automatically restore the system on a flexible regular time interval, or on every reboot.

All that has to be done is installing the Recovery card in the computer and specifying the data that has to be protected, and the data will be kept good forever. Not only the supervisor has an easier task because he does not have to restore the computers after misuse, he can even give the users more freedom because even if they format the hard disk, the Recovery card will restore the data after the computer has been rebooted. In case of a teaching environment students can learn how to operate for example a word processor, thereby modifying and saving files, and after a restart of the computer all the files used are fresh again for the next session.

Computer room management is also made easy when the computers are connected in a network. The Recovery card can co-operate with a network card to synchronize with another computer, this making management of a computer room as easy as management of a single computer.

Note: the Recovery card, of course, cannot protect the computer from hardware failure. It is therefore strongly advised to keep a back up of your important data at all time.

VC-1 Encoder Installation and Operation

VC-1 Encoder Installation and Operation

Up to three VC-1 encoder boards may be housed in the 1RU frame and power supply. Connect the 25 ft. control cable between the appropriate card slot on the chassis, and the remote control panel, or PC (see VC-1 Windows Software), and apply power to the chassis. Control panel power is supplied via the control cable.

Connect program video to the “PGM IN” BNC. “PGM OUT 1” is equipped with a failsafe relay, which will connect the input to the output in the event of power failure. This output should feed the on-air link. “PGM OUT 2” is not bypassed and may be used for a monitor feed if required.

The control readout has a LINE row and a PRST (preset) row. The LINE row indicates the content rating on the outgoing program. The PRST row indicates the rating that has been preset from the control panel. On power up, the control panel will indicate PASS THRU in the LINE row and NO DATA in the PRST row. The PASS THRU function allows data previously inserted to pass through the VC-1. Whether control is via the remote panel or a PC, the VC-1 will strip and overwrite any existing XDS data once a rating has been inserted.

Any rating may be pre-selected by depressing the appropriate pushbutton. The button will illuminate and the content rating will appear in the PRST row of the readout. Depressing the TAKE pushbutton will transfer the rating to LINE, and the rating data will be inserted in the program output. The pushbutton will extinguish and NO DATA will appear in the PRST row. PASS THRU may also be pre-selected by depressing the PASS button, and taken to air by depressing the TAKE button. Should an incorrect rating be pre-selected:
1) For U.S. Rating System, depress CANCEL button and re-enter correct rating.
2) For Canadian Rating System, any rating may be overridden by entering another rating.

The VC-1 is equipped with three GPI functions:
1) GPI 1 requires a momentary contact closure. This closure will initiate the TAKE function. Whatever rating is in PRST will go to LINE.
2) GPI 2 requires a latching contact. When held low it will automatically put the VC-1 into the PASS THRU mode regardless of what is presently on LINE and PRST. When this GPI is allowed to go high, the rating selected in PRST will go to LINE.
3) GPI 3 also requires a latching contact. When held low it will automatically put the VC-1 into the PASS THRU mode regardless of what is presently on LINE and PRST. When this GPI is allowed to go high, the rating will revert to whatever was previously on LINE

SMT351 User Manual

SMT351 User Manual

the SMT351 card is a TIM format memory module that is able to store up to 1GB of data at 400MB/s. The module works in a similar way than a FIFO memory. The first data stored into module will be available in output. SMT351 modules can be cascaded to extend storage capability.

The module is based on DDR SDRAM memory components running at up to 133 MHz. DDR (Double Data Rate) SDRAM activates the data outputs on both the rising and falling edges of the system clock rather than on just the rising edge, potentially doubling the output.

A Xilinx Virtex-II Pro FPGA (or XC2VP20, or XC2VP30) controls input and output data flows on two Sundance High-speed Bus (SHB) connectors. This bus is compatible with a wide range of Sundance processor, converter and I/O modules.

G540 4-AXIS Drive User Manual Rev I

G540 4-AXIS Drive User Manual Rev I

Thank you for choosing to purchase the G540 4-Axis Drive system. If you are dissatisfied with it for any reason at all within two weeks of its purchase date, you may return it for a full refund provided it is cosmetically unmarred and undamaged electrically in any way. Otherwise Geckodrive Inc. fully warranties it against workmanship defects for 1 year after its purchase date.

The G540 is very easy to use. All it requires is:
1) MOTORS: One to four step motors are required. All NEMA-17, many NEMA-23 and a few NEMA-34 motors are acceptable. The motors preferably should be square in cross-section, not round. The motors can be 4, 6 or 8-wire motors. 5-wire motors cannot be used with the G540. Choose a motor that has a rated current of 3.5A or less. Choose a motor that has a rated winding inductance of 2.5mH to 3mH if maximum power output (>100W mechanical) is a requirement. Never use a power supply voltage greater than 32 times the square-root of the motor inductance expressed in milli-Henries (mH).
2) MOTOR CABLES: The motors connect to the G540 via male DB9 connectors. The four motor wires connect to pins 6 and 7 for one motor winding, pins 8 and 9 for the other motor winding. The current set resistor connects to pins 1 and 5. The motor cable should be a 4-conductor cable and it can be shielded or unshielded. If a shielded cable is used, connect the shield to either pin 2, 3 or 4. Pins 2, 3 and 4 connect to ground inside the G540.
3) CURRENT SET RESISTORS: The current set resistor programs the axis drive current (0 to 3.5A) to match the rated phase current of the motor being used with the axis. Each axis requires a current set resistor. The resistor can be from 1/10 W to 1/2 W in size and 1% to 5% tolerance. The current set equals 1,000 Ohms per Amp of motor current. Example: A 3.3A per phase motor requires a 3.3K resistor, a 1.5A per phase motor requires a 1.5K resistor.
4) POWER SUPPLY: Connect a DC power supply to the MAIN TERMINAL BLOCK, the positive supply wire to Pos 11 and the negative (ground return) wire to Pos 12. The power supply voltage must be between +18VDC and +50VDC. The power supply voltage determines how fast your motors can go. Supply voltage has no effect on the motor’s low-speed torque. The power supply can be regulated or unregulated. The power supply current will depend on the number of motors used and the motors rated phase currents. The power supply current also depends on motor speed and applied load. A rule of thumb estimate is add up all the motor phase currents and multiply the result by 0.6 to get the required power supply current.
5) PARALLEL PORT CABLE: Use a parallel port cable to connect the G540 to the PC. The G540 end of the cable must be a male DB25 connector.

FDI PCA9633 DEMO Board User Manual

FDI PCA9633 DEMO Board User Manual

The PCA9633 Demo Board demonstrates the Philips PCA9633 Fast Mode Plus 4-bit I²C LED Dimmer IC. Four LEDs are connected to the PCA9633 and through individual pulse width modulation (PWM) of each LED show different levels of intensity. To use, push SW8 to the ON position. The LEDs will immediately flash and glow. To select a different mode of operation, press the MODE button (PB1). The LED will flash amber a number of times to denote which mode was entered. Use the other 3 buttons (SELECT, PLUS, & MINUS) to change the settings. Six different modes of operation are provided and described below.

Bus SDA & SCL Pull-up Enable
These two switches disable/enable the cable-side pull-ups for the I²C-bus. These switches must be ON for the MASTER Board (0) and the LAST SLAVE board in the chain. All other boards in-between should have these switches set to OFF. If there are only two boards connected (MASTER and SLAVE), both boards should have these switches set to ON.

Cable Power Off/On
This switch enables the battery power connection to the RJ45 cable on pin 1 of the RJ45 jack. This allows a single power source for the complete chain of boards when all the boards have this switch ON. Note: When this is utilized, a single bench or wall power supply should be used, as the typical 9V battery cannot supply enough current to power multiple boards. The 9V battery should be removed from the holder on all boards. The input power requirements are: 6VDC to 12VDC, 100mA per board MAX.

Board Power Off/On
This switch turns power OFF/ON for the board. Board Power should be turned OFF whenever the board is not in use, as the battery drain would result in a dead battery. It is also recommended to remove the battery from the board when not in use to avoid inadvertent battery drain if the OFF/ON switch is bumped ON. The battery may be placed in the holder with the contacts “away” from each other as a storage method.

PowerAmplifier User Manual

PowerAmplifier User Manual

This power amplifier can be mast mounted using the stainless steel U-bolts as shown in Figure 5 and Figure 6. Refer to the sketch for proper positioning. Carefully tighten the bolts using the included nuts. Take care not to over-tighten the bolts or cause damage to the RF connectors on the amplifier. Because the amplifier is a sealed unit, these connectors can not easily be repaired. This unit can also be mounted to a flat surface using any of the mounting holes on the unit’s mounting flanges.

Radio transmitters, receivers and RF cables require protection when attracted by lightning strike.

The surge protectors contain fast response gas filled arrestors to provide low let through voltage for fast rise time transients. The device is configured to minimize circuit capacitance and the performance can be assured up to 2GHz. Standard models provide protection for receivers and transmitters up to a 1KW power level. Installing this device in outdoor may be subject to lightning strikes. To properly protect your equipment, you should install the lightning arrestor to prevent an electrical surge from traveling through the antenna cable and into the building. Lightning protection for a building is more forgiving than protection of electrical devices. A building can withstand up to 100,000 volts, but electrical equipment may be damaged by just a few volts.

Direct earth grounding of the antenna and the Lightning Protector is necessary to protect the installation from lightning and the build-up of static electricity. The ground terminal is located on the lightning protector that attached with this unit. Connect one end of the grounding cable to the Ground terminal and the other end to a good ground connection.
