Integration of x86-based HP Servers into ServerView
ServerView® is an easy-to-use, comprehensive set of management programs for monitoring and managing PRIMERGY systems. ServerView® contains tools for providing and analyzing all system data, for automated updating of BIOS, firmware and driver versions (FSC database in the Internet or support CD), and for archiving files and comparing and exporting them. A power alarm management facility that can also be configured individually over the Internet ensures rapid and secure forwarding of system messages to administrators or service providers. ServerView® uses standardized protocols and interfaces. Administrators are provided with a quick and reliable overview of the operating status of the systems, utilization trends and possible sources of error. The individually configurable alarm management facility ensures that predefined administrators or service providers can respond rapidly. The ServerView® Version Management component simplifies maintenance of PRIMERGY servers.
The management program (ServerView® Manager) runs on a central monitoring system with a Windows-based user interface (e.g. a standard PC, server, notebook, etc.). The information on the configuration and operating status of the monitored servers is collected centrally there. In the event of an error, the behavior of the servers is controlled from the monitoring station. In a complex network, several monitoring stations can also be set up at different locations (branches, home office, etc.), thus ensuring monitoring at any time, anywhere. The agents are programs that run on the monitored systems. The agents collect information and forward it to the management station. Servers have Management Hardware, like Baseboard Management Controller (BMC), or RemoteView Service Board RSB.
