DFIS-BT Bluetooth-Data Transfer between FLARM / Volkslogger and PDA Instructions Manual

DFIS-BT Bluetooth-Data Transfer between FLARM / Volkslogger and PDA Instructions Manual

This module has been developed under practical considerations by glider pilots for glider pilots. The DFIS-BT is the first module that allows the integration of popular “standard components”, for example state-of- the-art PDAs, into the world of the conventional electronics in the gliding environment, without cable by using Bluetooth interface.

The DFIS-BT module comes with the following accessories:
• Manual
• Data cable to connect the DFIS-BT module with the FLARM / Volkslogger (approx. 30-cm length)

An additional accessory that is not included in the package but can be purchased is a combined cable connection of the DFIS-BT module with a PC / laptop and a power supply -by a 9 volt battery.

The DFIS-BT module transfers data between the FLARM / Volkslogger and the PDA, on which the cross-country flight program is running - using a radio connection instead of the traditionally used cable wiring. To this purpose, the Bluetooth Standard is used, which is commonly used in today’s mobile devices like PDAs and mobile phones.

The module is simply connected with the pre-manufactured cable to the FLARM/Volkslogger device. The power supply of the FLARM / Volkslogger powers the Bluetooth module as well. By turning on the FLARM / Volkslogger, the DFIS-BT module is therefore ready for use. All plugs in the DFIS-BT module and the FLARM / Volkslogger are compatible with each other. The connector pin assignment corresponds to the IGC standard which is also used by the FLARM / Volkslogger. To use the DFIS-BT functionality in the double seater, two modules can be concatenated (one after the other). In this configuration, each of the modules sends the FLARM / Volkslogger data to the PDA which is linked to the module via Bluetooth.

KXI-DVI-Bridge User’s Manual

KXI-DVI-Bridge User’s Manual

This document describes the installation and specification of the KXI-DVI-Bridge. Details of the integration with Kaleido are available in the Kaleido user documentation. Please see “Compatibility” on page 15 for a list of Kaleido models that can be used with the KXI-DVI-Bridge.

Miranda’s KXI-DVI-Bridge performs live extraction of computer graphics to generate an SMPTE 292M compliant link meant for the Kaleido multi-image processor. Each unit provides two independent DVI-to-HD-SDI conversion processes. A firmware upgrade now allows the KXI-DVI-Bridge to also perform conversions of DVI signals from a Kaleido to HD-SDI formats.

Originally designed as a Kaleido input device, the KXI-DVI-Bridge converts a DVI signal to HD-SDI at a specific resolution and frame rate (1920×1080p @ 29.97 Hz)
1. This allows a Kaleido to accept inputs from a PC at larger VGA resolutions, up to 1600×1200
2. over a standard HD-SDI signal, without sacrificing quality.
The input resolution from the PC can be XGA, SXGA, WXGA, WSXGA+ or UXGA, but must have a 60 Hz refresh rate.

Basic KXI-DVI-Bridge Features:
• Dual Channel – pixel-to-pixel extraction on each discrete channel
• Two HD-SDI outputs per channel
• Auto-sensing DVI input
• One DVI loop output per channel
• Auto-sensing of input format within the Kaleido’s HD-SDI input
• Platform/OS independent
• Extend reach of DVI signal by using SDI wiring
• Ideal for static content such as the view of an automation system’s run-down list

G540 4-AXIS Drive User Manual Rev I

G540 4-AXIS Drive User Manual Rev I

Thank you for choosing to purchase the G540 4-Axis Drive system. If you are dissatisfied with it for any reason at all within two weeks of its purchase date, you may return it for a full refund provided it is cosmetically unmarred and undamaged electrically in any way. Otherwise Geckodrive Inc. fully warranties it against workmanship defects for 1 year after its purchase date.

The G540 is very easy to use. All it requires is:
1) MOTORS: One to four step motors are required. All NEMA-17, many NEMA-23 and a few NEMA-34 motors are acceptable. The motors preferably should be square in cross-section, not round. The motors can be 4, 6 or 8-wire motors. 5-wire motors cannot be used with the G540. Choose a motor that has a rated current of 3.5A or less. Choose a motor that has a rated winding inductance of 2.5mH to 3mH if maximum power output (>100W mechanical) is a requirement. Never use a power supply voltage greater than 32 times the square-root of the motor inductance expressed in milli-Henries (mH).
2) MOTOR CABLES: The motors connect to the G540 via male DB9 connectors. The four motor wires connect to pins 6 and 7 for one motor winding, pins 8 and 9 for the other motor winding. The current set resistor connects to pins 1 and 5. The motor cable should be a 4-conductor cable and it can be shielded or unshielded. If a shielded cable is used, connect the shield to either pin 2, 3 or 4. Pins 2, 3 and 4 connect to ground inside the G540.
3) CURRENT SET RESISTORS: The current set resistor programs the axis drive current (0 to 3.5A) to match the rated phase current of the motor being used with the axis. Each axis requires a current set resistor. The resistor can be from 1/10 W to 1/2 W in size and 1% to 5% tolerance. The current set equals 1,000 Ohms per Amp of motor current. Example: A 3.3A per phase motor requires a 3.3K resistor, a 1.5A per phase motor requires a 1.5K resistor.
4) POWER SUPPLY: Connect a DC power supply to the MAIN TERMINAL BLOCK, the positive supply wire to Pos 11 and the negative (ground return) wire to Pos 12. The power supply voltage must be between +18VDC and +50VDC. The power supply voltage determines how fast your motors can go. Supply voltage has no effect on the motor’s low-speed torque. The power supply can be regulated or unregulated. The power supply current will depend on the number of motors used and the motors rated phase currents. The power supply current also depends on motor speed and applied load. A rule of thumb estimate is add up all the motor phase currents and multiply the result by 0.6 to get the required power supply current.
5) PARALLEL PORT CABLE: Use a parallel port cable to connect the G540 to the PC. The G540 end of the cable must be a male DB25 connector.

Vector bill Operation Manual

Vector bill Operation Manual

The Vector line of bill validators accepts bank notes and coupons thru 72 mm in width. The Vector comes pre-programmed, per customer specification, from the factory or can be reconfigured by customers utilizing the Vector Tools program for PDA or PC’s. Software updates can also be uploaded into the Vector via a PDA or PC enabled with the Vector Tools program.

ESD Precautions
The Vector bill acceptor is used as an inside component of a vending machine or similar host machine. Proper grounding is conducted by connecting the Vector metal mounting bracket to the metal surface of the vending machine chassis.
To minimize electrostatic discharge, observe the following precautions:
- When removing Vector from an antistatic bag, or the vending machine cabinet, lay it on an antistatic surface such as a ESD mat or a disposable antistatic mat.
- Always wear an antistatic wrist strap connected to metal surface on the chassis of the vending machine (ground) when working on Vector.
- Do not touch the I/O ports by hands

Cleaning & Maintenance
The Vector currency validator was designed and manufactured for simple, trouble free operation. To enhance the long term reliability of your Vector validator, please follow the simple, but important cleaning and maintenance guide.
Cleaning
We recommend a regular cleaning schedule for your Vector bill validator. Depending on local environmental and usage, the Vector should be cleaned at least every 3 months, more regularly in areas of high dust and contamination. The Vector utilizes a combination of IR, UV and/or Magnetic sensors along the note path to collect data off the bank note. During use, dust, contamination and foreign objects can collect along the note path and over the sensors, degrading their performance over time. Cleaning your Vector on a regular basis will assure maximum performance and validation rates.
On-site cleaning
We realize that it may be impossible for you to remove your Vector out of its application while in the field to perform a thorough cleaning. In these instances, we recommend that you obtain a can of compressed air and guide the output toward the note entry area. This will remove any excess dust or foreign objects that may have collected over the sensors located along the note path.
Thorough Cleaning
To perform a more thorough cleaning of the Vector, open the upper section by pressing on the two red release buttons and lift gently (for further detail, refer to page 4 of this manual). This allows access to the note path. We recommend that you use a mild soap/water combination and damp, dust free towel and wipe the note path area and sensors. NB do not put the water directly on to the validator, only on to the cloth. Dry thoroughly and close the upper section. DO NOT USE ALCOHOL to clean your Vector as this will degrade the sensor apertures and drive belts and will seriously affect the long term reliability.

Always double check the polarity of your wires with a voltmeter. Avoid using the cigarette plug as a power source, often times the contacts are not capable of delivering high current to your PC.

Thank you for purchasing the M4-ATX power sequencer / vehicle ATX power supply. The M4-ATX was designed to work with a wide variety of main boards ranging from low power to fully fledged Intel, AMD or VIA models.

NOTE: To reset to the M4-ATX settings to the factory defaults (in case changes were made via the USB uplink), simply power off the unit, connect a jumper to JP1 and then power back up. The LED light will start to flash rapidly indicating that the factory defaults were loaded. Don’t forget to Remove jumper when done! Disconnect M4-ATX from battery for at least 10 seconds. Next time when power is applied, M4-ATX will operate from the factory defaults settings.

Power challenges in a Vehicle PC: One of most difficult tasks of operating a PC in a vehicle is power consumption while the computer is OFF. Even when your computer is OFF, it will still consume about 100mA on the 5V rail. When the computer is in the suspend mode, it will consume even more power, because the RAM needs to be powered at all times. No matter how big your battery is, you will eventually drain it if proper actions are not taken.

The M4-ATX is addressing these issues by cutting off the 5VSB rail after a pre-defined amount of time (see jumper chart, HARDOFF). During the HARDOFF if the battery level drops below 11.2V for more than one minute, M4-ATX will shut down and re-activate only when the input voltage is > 12V.

Engine Cranks, under-voltage and over-voltage situations. Another difficult task is maintaining stable power to your PC. While car batteries are rated at 12V, they actually provide voltages in between 7-11V (engine cranks) or as high as 80 volts (load dump). Most of the times, your battery will stay at 13.5V (while car is running) but extra precautions need to take place in order to prevent such situations. M4-ATX can operate as low as 6V and as high as 30V while providing strict regulation on all rails along with input voltage clamping and reverse protection.
