A Guide to ERRM
Enterprise Rapid Recovery Methodology (ERRM) provides a complete heterogeneous recovery solution for your Open Systems and Intel IT infrastructure. Developed by Indigo Stone and offered through IBM Business Continuity and Recovery Services (BCRS), ERRM is a completely reliable, repeatable and certain recovery solution. . ERRM combines the customer’s backups and the BCRS recovery site’s infrastructure to provide a total recovery solution. ERRM’s software tools greatly reduce recovery times, the dependence on technical expertise and management time required to perform a system recovery. The ERRM methodology utilizes a common approach that can be used across the customer’s heterogeneous server environment.
Methodology:
ERRM monitors a system’s configuration to help ensure all required resources are available at the recovery site. If these resources are not available, the recovery provider is advised so that additional requirements can be addressed.
• How does it do this? Profiling - is an intelligent agent that resides on the customer’s system and captures only the vital configuration information necessary for recovery. The profiling process captures data such as hardware configuration, operating system levels, system tuning, network connections, system boot files, and information pertaining to data storage.
• The Profile captures this data on a scheduled basis and then sends it back to a secure server at the customer’s desired BCRS recovery location. Having stored this information, it is then compared against any previously collected information to ensure the recovery site has all the resources required to recover the profiled system. This reporting functionality can also be utilized in-house for as an aid with asset management and change control.
