Cisco IOS XR Security Guide

Cisco IOS XR Security Guide

This introduction contains the following:
• Definition of security and the role of security in the larger context of high network availability
• A preview of the modules in the Cisco IOS XR Security Guide
This guide describes many aspects of the system security that Cisco IOS XR software provides on the Cisco CRS-1 routers and Cisco 12000 Series Router.

Internet attacks occur every day, and these attacks can include core routers as targets—usually with some form of denial of service (DoS) attack. Fortunately, the Cisco CRS-1 router and Cisco 12000 Series Router come with a highly robust, built-in security structure. These routers can withstand attacks and remain in service until the necessary responses have been completed. This guide describes the software architecture and the hardware support for addressing these attacks. It also provides guidance on how you can further protect your investment in these products. Our security goal for the Cisco CRS-1 router and the Cisco 12000 Series Router is to neutralize attacks and recover quickly from any degradation of service. The point is to keep the router always operating, regardless of even a distributed denial of service (DDoS) attack. We developed the systems that run Cisco IOS XRsoftware so that an attack on one process, service, or plane does not compromise any other process, service, or plane. For example, a process that is shut down automatically restarts, and when needed, a patch can be applied without restarting the router. Essentially, these mechanisms are:
• Modularity of services
• Separation and isolation of management, control, and data (or forwarding) planes
• Multiple layers of increasingly stringent defense
• Convenient upgradability

MountainScope User Guide

MountainScope User Guide

The PCAvionics MountainScope software for Windows PCs and Pocket PCs shows you the true shape of your world with a real-time GPS-oriented moving map. High-resolution topographic rendering makes mountainous terrain and bodies of water easy to recognize. Aviation data overlays such as airports, airspaces, airways, and navaids are derived from official sources, and correspond closely to those found on your sectional charts (see the chapter Map Display: Aviation Data for references). Aviation data is also updated every 28 days to ensure that you have the most current information.

Product Features
1. 20 elevation points per nautical mile
2. Uses common aviation charting symbols
3. Permanent water features
4. 3-D topographic terrain with shaded warning areas
5. Flight planning and track logging capabilities
6. Simulator modes, including one where MountainScope cooperates with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002!

3800i/3800r Handheld Linear Imager User’s Guide

3800i/3800r Handheld Linear Imager User’s Guide

The 3800i and 3800r mark a new performance level for handheld scanners. Both the 3800i and 3800r are powered by Hand Held Products Adaptus TM Imaging Technology. The performance of Adaptus technology delivers aggressive read rates and depths of field on 1D, stacked linear, and matrix codes.

The 3800i handheld industrial image reader is the first industrial class reader to be powered by Hand Held Products Adaptus imaging technology. Adaptus technology allows you to read bar codes at ranges up to 82 inches on paper labels. In addition, this technology allows your 3800i to pick up and process your bar code image 270 times per second. Although the 3800i uses the same general ergonomic design as the 3800r, the 3800i is built to withstand your toughest industrial applications.

Designed for today’s demanding retail and commercial environments, the 3800r offers a superior reading range, durability, and the ability to read poor quality bar codes. Linear imaging technology is defined by a bright and sharply focused aiming line, high resolution imaging, and fast reading speed. The 3800r is comfortable to hold, easy to use, rugged, and excellent for retail applications, as well as for all general scanning applications.

This User’s Guide provides installation and programming instructions for the 3800i/3800r. Product specifications, dimensions, warranty, and customer support information are also included.

Hand Held Products bar code scanners are factory programmed for the most common terminal and communications settings. If you need to change these settings, programming is accomplished by scanning the bar codes in this guide. An asterisk (*) next to an option indicates the default setting.

HP PC Session Allocation Manager (SAM) v.2.0 Administrator’s Guide

HP PC Session Allocation Manager (SAM) v.2.0 Administrator’s Guide

Companies have long used server-based computing (SBC) to create virtual instances of desktop applications on a server that multiple remote users can access. HP’s Consolidated Client Infrastructure (CCI) offers an alternative for virtualizing the desktop. The CCI solution centralizes desktop computing and storage resources into easily managed, highly secure data centers, while providing end users the convenience and familiarity of a traditional desktop environment.

The HP PC Session Allocation Manager (SAM) system is the control point in managing a CCI deployment. Specifically, it manages the assignment of Microsoft Remote Desktop connections from a user’s access device (client) to Remote Desktop sessions (blade PC). Whether the session resides on a dedicated physical blade or resides together with other sessions on a virtual hardware platform, HP SAM makes these desktop sessions available to users as they are needed.
